Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American singer-dancer and actress. Her career began with Broadway career in musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde, and Hair. Her performance in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel won her the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in the Play. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor and director, has spent the majority of her career working alongside well-known directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive show Welcome to Chippendales which premieres the 22nd of November. Ashford currently works in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust alongside Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. As it is a Hulu Original, the film will be a part of Disney Digital Television's channels. Ashford's Broadway return is scheduled to take place in the month of March 2023, when he stars opposite Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will form the team of creators for the show. Ashford was most recently seen in the role of Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. This show is based around the National Crisis that saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the middle of the country's First Impeachment Proceedings during the Over 100 Years. She starred in two seasons on the cult CBS comedy B Positive. She also appeared in the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, that starred the legendary actresses Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Not a stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her role as Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the original role of Lauren of Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway roles. Ashford divides her time between Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver and grew up there.
